Abstract. A statistically significant dependence between sowing rate seeds and yield of artichoke herb was not found. The obtained results show, that the required sowing rate, that guarantees high and good quality of artichoke herb is 10 kg·ha-1.

Summary
In the years 2004-2005 the effect of swing rate (0.1 kg·m-2 and 0.2 kg·m-2) on the yield of fresh and air-dry artichoke herb was determined. Our own studies did not show a statistically significant influence of sowing rate on the quantity and quality of artichoke herb yield. The highest yield of herb was obtained from first cutting harvest. In the harvest of the first cutting, higher yield of herb was obtained at sowing rate of 0.1 kg·m-2, than in the harvest of the second cutting at sowing rate of 0.2 kg·m-2. The obtained results show that sowing area required dose for the reason of high and good quality yield of artichoke herb is 10 kg·ha-1.
